Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was at Aunt Beth's house where we had an extremely yummy dinner. Liam is like a whole new baby when it comes to food. He ate a whole plate of sweet potatoes (that wasn't pureed and didn't come out of a jar!) and even some pieces of turkey and bread. I don't know what has gotten into him. He has finally realized that there is nothing to be afraid of. He was his usual charming self and got to spend time with his cousins whom he doesn't get to see often. Although, he seems to like his cousin's girlfriend better than any of us.... such a flirt.

11 Month Update

No idea how much he weighs now, but I don't think it's too different from last month. He seems to be thinning out a tad. This past weekend we had a breakthrough! He eats chunks! I opened up a stage 3 turkey dinner with rice jar of food that he had previously rejected by vomiting and he ate the whole thing! He has been really interested in whatever we are eating for dinner too. All of this makes me sigh with relief because we were going to have to do palette tests and other not fun things if he kept up with the non eating.

Other fun things he does now... bite. Yes, he is in a biting phase. I tell him no and "redirect" him like I am supposed to, but he still thinks it's a game and hilarious. He bites kids at school and it makes me crazy.

He waves hello and goodbye, but he turns his hand towards himself so it looks like he is saying hello/goodbye to himself! That one is really cute.

He talks and talks and talks. Sometimes he convinces me that maybe I'm the one that doesn't know the language. He just goes on and on as if he has a very specific message that he's trying to get across.

Mr Liam Goes to Washington

While on vacation in NC, we decided to take a couple of days to go to Washington DC. Liam and I had never been there and it had been a while for Daddy O. It is a very cool place. I really enjoyed seeing all of the monuments I had only seen on TV before and getting the sense of history that it all brings. And Liam really enjoyed seeing all the geese and ducks that seem to inhabit the city.

We also got to see the President land on the lawn of the White House in an Air Force One helicopter which was very cool. You can see it in the last picture. We were standing in front of the National Monument when 3 huge helicopters came flying by. Apparently, he always flies with the other 2 surrounding him for protection which makes sense. I am not a particularly "patriotic" person, but being there and seeing that made me get a little teary eyed.

A New Buddy

While we were in North Carolina, we hung out with Sofia's sister and her family. This is her son Sebastian who is almost 2 years older than Liam. Despite their age difference, they played really well with each other and Sebastian was always willing to share his toys. I think the funniest thing about these pictures is how much bigger Laim's head looks compared to Sebastian's...

Did you know that leaves come in different colors?

Last week we had a family vacation in Raleigh, NC (hopefully, our future home) and we had a really good time. The weather was cold, but not too cold. It was nice to see what different seasons look like and Liam enjoyed all the different and new textures.

Thank Goodness for Earaches

That's what it was. Apparently, because he's had a runny nose for a while- it dripped into the ear canal causing an infection. When he woke up on Saturday, the fever was gone. He was still pretty cranky so we decided we would still take him in to the doctor. Thank goodness we did. He is on antibiotics that he has to take for 10 days. Having a reason for his crankiness is the best feeling. I was dreading this visit would turn out like the last one where everything looked fine and we were just supposed to wait it out. Having something tangible to blame his mood on is liberating because I know it can be fixed.

Already he is acting like his old self again. He was just so sweet and happy all day. It's been a few weeks since I have been able to enjoy him so thoroughly. It's bittersweet being the mommy sometimes because if he is just the least bit upset or tired it becomes magnified by 10 when he sees me. I am guessing because nursing is a form of comfort for him so when he sees me, he wants to be comforted. So doing anything with him (when I have no other helping hand) is frustrating to say the least. Getting ready in the morning has been interesting. That's why seeing the old Liam back.... is...is.... HALLELUJAH!!! HALLELUJAH!! I almost forgot how much fun we can have together. Oh and by the way, for more on his duck pictured above- be sure to visit kittyama's blog soon. I don't know if she will have it up tonight, but soon...

That Time Of Year I Guess

Sick. Sick. Sick. I am so sick of sickness. Liam had a fever and diarrhea thing a few weeks ago and that was replaced with a steady stream of snot ever since. This past week Chris and I were wicked sick. We were achy with soar throats and sinus pressure. We each had to stay home during the week, still taking Liam to school so that he would be away from us and so we could get some much needed sleep. Today we are finally better. It seemed like Liam's nose was clearing up and are family was gonna be germ-free for the first time in weeks. I picked Liam up at daycare and he was steaming. Poor thing looked miserable. So I got him home and took his temperature and it was 102.6. He only had two things that interested him for the rest of the night- nursing and moaning. My poor little pickle breaks my heart when I have to see him like that. So we are back to the doctor's tomorrow. I can deal with a few more days as long as he is pretty close to normal by Thursday (when we leave for North Carolina on vacation). Oh, please be better by Thursday...

Halloween!

Liam the lion had a halloween party at school. The weather was so nice they decided to have it outside and Jordanna made sure to take lots of great pics with her new, fancy camera. Here are the cast of characters below: Lion- Liam, Blue Ox- Jordanna's son Austin, Green Fairy (maybe tinkerbell?)- Jordanna's daughter Erianna, and plain old Missy (who really isn't plain or old at all).
