We have been home for a couple of days now. The trip was mostly a success. I think we have decided on moving into an apartment that is just outside of downtown. We wanted to stay away from apartment living, but we don't know what kind of income we will be taking in when we get there so we thought it best to start out small and take it from there. As far as apartments go, these are pretty nice. They have all wooden floors and lots of grassy areas where kids can roam. And just so you can see the difference between NC and FL- a two bedroom and one bath apartment with all water and trash/ sewage included is $750. And we are talking about an ideal area- equally close to downtown, several types of grocery stores, and the bird sanctuary (where you can find some trails). We are nervous, but mostly really excited. We love the overall lifestyle and attitude that comes with Asheville. There seems to be a lot more respect for the environment and each other. And we love that we will get to participate in changing seasons. The only decision we have to make now is when. That is mostly dependent on money- so tonight is a pow wow where we see what we have and what we need. Then we decide when it happens.

NC Trip- Day #4
So we skipped over a few days, but it has been pretty crazy the last few days. I forgot to mention on the first day- Liam was amazing on the drive up. We honestly didn't know what to expect, but he was soooo good. And while teething... love that kid... So anyway, we have been here a couple of days now. Mostly, we have just been trying to get to know the area and looking at possible houses to live in. We found one that we really like, but are hesitant to put down the money on it. I think we are just scared that it will make everything so final. Plus there is a lot to consider that is not interesting enough to write about. But the more time we spend here, the more we know that we belong here. We are not kidding ourselves. We know it will be hard and lonely for a while, but the difference between here and S Florida is too great to ignore. So it has been mostly business since we have been here. We did take an evening to enjoy the company of Mitch, Betsey, and their kids. Betsey is Amy's sister-in-law and they live in a Northern part of Asheville that is historic. There house is just over a hundred years old and beautiful. Betsey has been helpful in pointing us in the right direction (and serving us mushroom, spinach lasagna). So at least we will know somebody here. Anyway, that is all for now.... will report back later. Sorry no pics yet, but I am not using our computer....

NC Trip- Day #1
"We will be at your house around 7:30- 8:00" I tell my dad the day before we leave. After all, all of the bags are packed. We just have to wake up, get ready and go.... Did I forget that I have a 6 month old? Nothing is get up and go with a 6 month old (today is his birthday by the way). Liam woke up about 6:30 and about two hours later we were off to my parents. And let me just tell you that Liam had more luggage than Chris, me, and my parents all combined. Packing for babies is no joke.
Anyway, on our way up, Liam started to get a little fussy so Chris stuck his finger in his mouth to give him something to chew on and low and behold he felt something sharp. As in a tooth. In my babies mouth. I am not ready for this progression. I mean forget the fact that now I have to deal with breastfeeding a teething baby. We just started feeding him "food" and I feel like these little steps towards boyhood should be coming a little more spread out. I feel like they are just creeping up on me with no warning. And one day he will crawling and then walking and then going to college. I know- dramatic, but if it could all just slow down a little I think I would be more equipped to handle it all. We should be in Asheville by tomorrow evening so will report back then...
